Wedding update! What vendors we have booked, and what I am most looking forward to designing in the heart of planning a wedding.
Hi there, friends! Woah, what a first month of January it has been, especially for wedding planning. Since we have made leaps and strides this month, it only seemed appropriate to share with you a wedding update— and the opportunity to ask my anything you want answered about weddings. I’m still learning, but loving each and every moment of it!
For starters, in a few days we will be jetting to Santa Barbara to finally meet (in person) our wedding planner, Claudia! While we have emailed and chatted back in August when we first brought her onboard to help bring our wedding to life, we haven’t met in person yet! I am so excited for this, so be sure to follow along on my Instagram this weekend to see all the activities planned!
The next best thing that has happened this month is picking up my wedding dress that came in from Australia a few weeks ago! Though it doesn’t fit perfectly just yet, I’m confident that the alteration sessions will work wonders.
We have found our DJ, guitarist and even put down our deposit for our caterer! This upcoming weekend will also consist of tasting our wedding menu, venturing to a local bakeshop to taste cakes and frostings (um, best day ever?!) and meet with our florist to discuss logistics, event design and all the beautiful vessels offered to us for said flowers! We will revisit the venue for the first time, and lucky for us the devastating Montecito mudslides just missed the estate, which brought us much relief when we heard from the estate owner a few days following the storm!
This month has also been for working together with my Maid Of Honor, my sister, to begin the search for the bridesmaids baskets dresses. I can tell it is going to be a process, but am sure the ladies will look beautiful no matter what dresses they choose.
Through all of this planning, negotiating, proposal revisions and contract, our wedding planner Claudia of Hoste Events has been just the person needed when life itself gets crazy. She is able to clearly communicate everything I want to the proper vendors, and the connections that she has in the Central Coast wedding industry is the confidence I need when signing contracts that come with a large price tag. In addition, the excitement that Claudia has each and every time we chat and email makes the whole process fun, inspiring and anything but stressful!
With all that said, you might be wondering what’s left to plan. Now that the majority of our critical vendors are in place, the fun really begins! We will be heading down to Santa Barbara in April for a number of different items to check off the list! First, we will get to meet our wedding photographer for a venue walkthrough and an engagement session (yes, another photoshoot of John and I) and have a trial hair and makeup session. Tip: If you are having an engagement shoot, try to plan your trial beauty session the same day as your shoot so you feel extra beautiful and don’t have to worry about getting totally ready all by yourself!
During this same trip we will also be picking out everything under the umbrella of rentals. Since we are virtually bringing in everything to our venue, we get to choose everything, and while some people may find this daunting, I find it so liberating and have been waiting for this portion of planning since the beginning! This comes as no surprise since I love entertaining, but this is especially exciting because we have a blank canvas and the options are truly endless!
In the meantime, with the help from a master month-to-month checklist from Claudia, we will begin the search for our videographer, start to plan our honeymoon, design our invitations to coordinate with our Save The Dates, browse wedding bands and so much more, so stick along for the ride cause things are really getting creative!
