The glitz and glam of the holiday season can be stressful and often times down right hectic for some folks. Several invitations, large families, travel days and the often dreaded task of finding the absolute perfect gifts can take down spirits faster than the best gift during a game of White Elephant. Though there is a lot going on in the month of December, there are also many ways to get ahead of yourself and prioritize commitments to ensure a memorable month!
Embrace Online Shopping
While shipping charges aren’t the most exiting fee’s to pay, from time to time, it’s so worth it. During the hectic season when stores are extra busy and traffic is more congested, opt for delivery. Some sites I find myself coming back to time and time again besides Amazon are World Market, Blue Apron, West Elm, Anthropologie and CB2 for all my holiday needs.
Choose Commitments & Avoid Procrastination
By making sure you allow yourself to enjoy the events that come with the holidays, allow yourself to skip out on some too. Being a blogger, there are numerous events each month and it’s always tempting to go to each and every event. What I’ve come to learn through, is that you must leave time for quite time, hobby time and of course time to simply relax and enjoy friends and family! The best part? You will have more energy for those extra special events and you’ll be able to enjoy the time much more. Quality over quantity, right?
Ah yes, cue the high school homework procrastination rant. One thing we’ve learned? Life is much more calm if you start getting things done early! Think the first weekend in December is too soon to start wrapping presents? It’s not! Plus it’ll get everyone in the household that much more exciting for Christmas, allowing yourself time to attend those events we were talking about!
Unplug From Technology
News flash! It’s totally okay if your phone battery dies every once in a while! By unplugging or at least minimizing the time spent on your phone, you’ll be able to focus on what you need to get done, not what others are posting on Instagram! One thing I’ve been trying really hard to do? Leaving my phone at home on date night, quick runs to the store and other little errands. While it’s nice to have your phone as act as a safety blanket, it’s freeing to know that you don’t have to rely on it every breathing moment!
How are you staying sane during the busy times of December? Do you have any traditions you do to minimize stress?
