Enjoying the same cocktail over and over again can be mundane! Use these 5 recommendations to spruce up cocktail hour and reinvent your favorite drink of choice in under 5 minutes.
While most people have a go to drink of choice, there are often times when the same cocktail over and over again begins to taste simply dull. While you don’t need to completely switch around what you like, there are definitely alternative ways to spruce up your go to cocktail without changing the nature of the drink itself. If a vodka soda is what you find yourself ordering time and time again, similar to me, you might be interested in a few ways to make this claasic combination a little more dynamic and interesting. By implementing just a few additional steps and ingredients, the cocktail has an opportunity to reinvent its favors in a way that is anything but boring!
Go Beyond The Lime
While limes are a key player in vodka sodas, try adding a different type of citrus or berries to instantly add some ‘pow’ to your drink! Good options are grapefruit, orange or muddled blackberries, raspberries or blueberries. Garnish your drink with a sprig of rosemary and you’re cocktail is instantly upgraded!
Choose Great Vodka
Given that the ingredients of a vodka soda is literally just vodka, soda water and lime, quality vodka is absolutely essential. When I’m out, I’m happy to spend a few extra dollars for top shelf vodka and when I’m at home, Green Hope Vodka is where it’s at! The 100% USDA certified Organic, non-GMO and gluten free liquor adds the best ingredient to the cocktail! On that same note, my recent Blackberry Fig Cocktail created with Green Hope Vodka will keep you satisfied all fall long!
Trade Out Plain Soda Water
Without getting too sweet, try using a flavored soda water instead of the plain version you’ve been doing for years! Lemon and grapefruit is an awesome replacement, but this is really up to your own taste preferences. Flavors like blackberry, raspberry and blueberry would work well too!
Coat Your Glass With Liqueur
There are a few key elements to making a simple drink into something fancier, and I always appreciate when bartenders go the extra mile. One way to do this is to rinse your glass with a flavored liqueur of your choice for added flavor. My recommendation would be to go with something fruity like Cointreau or floral like Elderflower.
The Colder The Better
Be sure that you are storing all your ingredients in the fridge and vodka in the freezer before you bust out the ingredients! Bonus if you shake the combination in a shaker with ice for a little extra fizz and added cold-ness! There really is nothing comparable to a nice cold drink!
All in all, adding a few different flavors and methods when mixing up your next cocktail will make all the difference! Vodka not your thing? These recommendations can be altered for a number of different drinks!
