A classic look with neutral colors doesn’t only represent a California cool look, but the general style also pairs great with the surrounding blue and green landscape along the vineyards of Napa valley and the European vibe that makes up downtown. When in wine country, comfort is key, so leave those tall wedges behind and swap them out with stylish sandals or the ever so popular espadrilles shoes that are the look of the summer and get read to sniff, swirl and sip some of the best wines in the world!
If you’re looking for the perfect, easy location to spend some time, Napa is the place to be! Word to the wise, legally all visits are by appointment only (I know right? I just learned this too!). Occasionally you can walk in and make an appointment on the spot, but you’ll probably be more comfortable knowing you have a reservation and won’t be turned away!
William Hill Estate Winery (shown here)- This was one of the most scenic wineries I’ve visited yet. The grape lined hills seem to roll on forever here and the staff are beyond knowledgeable and friendly! Bonus points are the calm and clean picnic where you can bring in your own food and eat lunch on the well-kept lawn perched above the vineyards paired with delicious wine and service at William Hill. Tastings start at $25.
Chimney Rock- Talk about stunning! The photographs from a trip to this winery are swoon worthy. Known for its Cabernet Sauvignon, tastings are a bit pricey at $40 starting price, but the scenery, bright white architecture and patio at Chimney Rock sure seem to be worth it.
Domaine Carneros- Considered on the most beautiful wineries in North America, a visit here is a no-brainer! The walk up the grand staircase passing chardonnay and pinot nior vineyards make for a pretty good first impression, no? Tours and tastings start at $40 here, so be sure to carve out a good amount of time to really enjoy the surrounds. Read more about the Château to determine if it’s the right amount of fancy for you!
In wine country, time moves slow (and fast, once you really get going!) The mornings here begin easy and often afternoons in the valley are often sun soaked. When accessorizing an outfit for a day in Napa, a simple and lightweight watch is my go to. It makes it easier to keep track of time in comparison to constantly checking your phone, which is a big no-no when hearing about the wine varieties during a tasting. Instead, choose a trendy and useful watch like my new Jord wood watch to make sure you have enough time to visit all your destinations. Not only does the color and style of the watch look great, it virtually goes with any color palette! If you haven’t noticed yet, these interesting wood style watches are slowly popping up for good reason, so I was ready to try my hand (or wrist…) at one! I absolutely love the unique coloring of the maple ELY series watch! Jord also carries a whole line of men’s versions which are super cool and great for summer as well!
Downtown Napa is a charming area where you can pop in to many different tasting rooms on foot! You could spend a whole day simply downtown, or you can do what we did and hit a few wineries prior to spending the afternoon in the square! If you’re planning on tasting a lot of wine, purchase the Wine Tasting Card, which allows you to taste wine at 8 different tasting rooms for a flat fee of $30 total- what a steal, am I right?
Oxbow Public Market- A new neighbor in downtown has arrived! Some are calling it a mini San Francisco Ferry Building for its access to great food, coffee, wine and small shops all inside an attractive and hip market place. Popular vendors include Ritual Coffee Roasters, Hog Island Oyster Company, Three Twins Ice Cream and so on. Explore the Oxbow Market more!
Spas & Wellness- Similar to how cheese pairs well with wine, spas pair well with Napa. There are several different locations sure to get you in total relaxation mode. I’ll just go ahead and leave this here for you to discover!
Napa General Store- This was my favorite stop of the day in downtown Napa! The General Store offers wine tasting, local goods for sale, beer on tap and also have the most comfortable, European outdoor patio perfect for a delicious meal during your afternoon. Everything at Napa General Store is well styled with a bright, airy interior with wood accents and flowing beer, too!
Accommodations- There are countless B&B’s in Napa as well as luxury hotels scattered throughout the valley. Some recommendations based solely on amenities and photos are The Carnerors Inn, Andaz Napa and Senza Hotel. Sign me up!
