For many of us, Labor Day always seems to sneak up out of the blue. Back to school errands, busy work schedules and end of summer blues can all play a part in delaying plans for Labor Day. If you haven’t figured out what you want to do, I’m sharing some last minute ideas to ensure you have a memorable weekend and a worthwhile day off!
Host A BBQ
First and foremost, if you have access to a grill and a sunny backyard, there’s not much better than a gathering with good friends and awesome food. BBQ’s are always casual and asking friends to bring a dish is totally acceptable and encouraged!
Head To Water
Close to a lake, river or beach? Then get ready for one heck of a day! Get your music speakers, pack the ultimate picnic basket and bring the sunscreen! There’s not many other locations that will instantly boost moral and get everyone excited for the day then being close to water during a hot summer day.
Attend A Baseball Game
Hotdogs, beer and garlic fries in the sunshine? Count me in! Browse ticket vendors to find some cheap seats and round up your friends for a classic summer day at the ballpark.
Enjoy A Staycation
There is nothing wrong with staying in your town and visiting places you’ve had on your bucket list. In fact, this is what I’ll be up before and after seeing Coldplay (!!!). Perhaps you could try a new brunch spot, visit a museum and a walk along a scenic trail to get active. How about a spa day?! Restful weekends can have their advantages too!
Embark On A Day Trip
Throw on your best getaway attire and hit the road before summer comes to a close! There’s no time like the present to explore a new location or go to one you know and love. If you happen to be in the Bay Area, some of my recommendations for a great day trip are Healdsburg, Highway One and Point Reyes. Don’t forget the snacks!
Depending on your location, it could be somewhat hard to get a campsite this last minute, but that doesn’t mean you can’t do it. How about you throw a backyard camping party or even one inside your home? See more inspiration on how to make indoor s’mores, a DIY campfire and how to stargaze inside your home! Host A Movie Marathon
Cheese, wine and movies are big contenders when it comes to relaxing on your day off. Gather your friends and have then each bring a food/beverage item and a movie suggestion. Get ready to veg out!
