How To Host An Indoor Valentine’s Day Date

As January comes to a close and February peeks above the horizon, I’ve had one thing on my mind lately and that is Valentine’s Day. It will be John and I’s first one as an engaged couple and I don’t want to skip out on any details that would compromise this special day. In addition to having dinner at the restaurant where he proposed in December, we will be celebrating the weekend prior with an at home style brunch date. This is a really great alternative to a fancy dinner if you are looking to change up you and your sweetie’s plans this year! Delicious treats, chilled bubbly and small details will make this one memorable event in the comfort of your own home.

Decor Set Up

From a very feminine perspective, the set up is the most important to make an indoor date really come to life. Little touches go a long way and with help from my friends over at Minted, I was able to transform the sitting area to a romantic Valentine’s Day inspired set up without having to worry about items such as balloons, flowers and expensive gifts. For those that are unfamiliar, Minted is a San Francisco based design marketplace that features work form independent artists around the globe (can I get a heck ya) and in turn, allows you to customize these designs to your preference!

Without ever lacking design and transparency, Minted allows it’s community to choose what designs make it to the online store by voting on designs from these artists. As a result, there are hundreds and hundreds of amazing products that transform your events, invitations and home decor to help you tap into a more stylish life. From table cards and straw flags to our personalized calendar and milk glass cake stand, Minted sourced so much inspiration for me to make our Valentine’s Day indoor date customizable and authentic to my own style.

Music & Ambience

Along with the thoughtful decor additions, music and ambience are two key aspects that will allow the indoor date to come to life. There’s no such thing as too many soft candles to light the room and flowers to bring sweet scents to the air. Delicate love songs in the background are always a good idea and you can find many playlists such as Acoustic LoveLove Pop,  Acoustic Love Songs and Love Songs to sustain the mood!

Food & Drink

What’s a celebration without bubbly and delicious treats? You and your sweetheart’s appetite will greatly effect the options for food and beverages during your a cozy indoor date. Do you imagine setting this up in the evening after a full day’s work? If so, then you’ll want to spring for a full meal to keep the two of you happy and satisfied. Ordering in is an easy way to ensure a stress free set up after a long day at the office and bonus points for not having to worry about too many dishes!

Love to cook? We all know that a homemade meal made by your significant other might be one of the best things ever, so why not put on your chef hat and pop into the kitchen? Another great option is to cook a meal together and enjoy it among your romantically decorated and candle lit set up. Already ate a large meal? Then accommodate with some small treats like mini donuts decorated with pink edible luster dust, cookies and bubbly! Fresh fruit, mini waffles and mimosas are also a wonderful option to have for a brunch style indoor date, and who doesn’t love brunch at home?!
