There’s not many things better than coming home from a long trip or day at work and instantly feeling the comfort of your ow home. There are however, a lot of ways to achieve that feeling. Candles burning in different rooms, your favorite music streaming through the speakers and changing into the softest loungewear you have can all contribute to that feeling. These past few months I’ve been working on gathering all the right decor accents which would contribute to that same feeling of being at home. My most recent project was to create a gallery wall which would display my photographs taken in California, two gorgeous macrame pieces with copper accents, and fresh plants to obtain an industrial chic vibe in my apartment. I learned along the way that searching for the perfect pieces to create a cohesive gallery wall definitely takes time, but I can also say it’s has become my favorite corner of our apartment by creating unity with photographs, wall art, and anchor pieces!
For my spring home edit, I knew I wanted to incorporate copper and wood materials with an industrial but modern California vibe that align with current design trends. Air plants, interesting frames, succulents and of course two eye-catching macrame pieces created by Paige of Cotton & Copper Goods allowed my vision to become a reality! Paige is not only a lovely and extremely talented artist based out of Palo Alto, but she also happens to create macrame plant holders, wall hangings and custom pieces with intricate details and symmetrical patterns. These dynamic pieces have added a unique vibe to my apartment while aligning seamlessly with copper accents that tie in my recent DIY projects! I can’t speak high enough about the one of a kind items Paige creates, so if you’re in the market for a home refresh or perhaps adding new decor to your own gallery wall, then be sure to learn more on Cotton and Copper Goods Etsy store!
I absolutely to love surround myself with memories that bring back emotions of a perfect vacation. Whether it be artifacts or seeing photographs printed and hung on the wall from a favorite getaway is a great way to help a house feel like a home. When I first decided to incorporate a gallery wall above our new couch, I instantly thought of what imagery would work in the space and without question I knew I’d have to print my photography from our trip to Big Sur and Carmel. For more than a few reasons, this trip was so special to me. The first time seeing Bixby Bridge and McWay Falls in real life over Valentine’s Day weekend where each detail was planned by John was a huge part of what made the trip so magical (…we don’t need to mention the poison oak rash from hiking that showed up a few days later do we?!) Regardless of how you incorporate what is important to you, my number one tip when planning home decor is only purchase items that you truly love- including picture frames and wall art!
I try to always support local businesses whenever possible and I’ve always curious about the services of San Francisco based Social Print Studio. A virtual tour inside their amazing office and company culture told me to try them out to print photographs for my gallery wall. I will say, the team over there is amazing and my photographs arrived crisp and beautiful on quality photo paper just a few short days after my order was placed! As someone that doesn’t like to wait for a shipment, this was very impressed! I had the pleasure of printing two large 16×20 prints, and 5 8x10s to decorate my home with, but Social Print Studio offers may other ways to print your favorite snaps including metal prints, contact cards, magnets and everything else in between!
